A unique partnership between J-Flex and Silicone Engineering brings over 75 years experience in the manufacture and supply of high performance silicone solutions. This particular focus is for a full range of precision calendered silicone/fiberglass fabric composites and silicone sponge materials for use as insulation for flexible heaters.

The use of thin gauge silicone composites has long been standard in the heater industry, and the reliability of silicone is one of the main reasons for its widespread use – offering long life even where rigid metal sheathed heaters are adversely affected.

Features:

Wide Temperature Range
-60°C to +230°C continuous is standard and a special high temperature grade of +260°C continuous can also be offered made to order.

Dielectric Features
Excellent dielectric strength; resistance to corona and arc-tracking damage.

Ozone and Weathering
Silicone offers great resistance to ozone; weather and chemical resistance.

Flame Retardant
In the unusual event of fire silicone generates very low smoke, low toxic fumes, when compared with organic rubbers or PVC insulation materials. Our flame retardant grade is manufactured; batch laboratory tested and compliant with the requirements of UL 94 V(0), and is certified as such.

Bondable
All our silicone materials are easily bonded to wire and metal foil elements, as well as aluminium backers. Typical peel strength being in excess of 10 N/cm according to Standard IEC 60249-1. In addition our materials can be bonded to carbon based silicone rubber materials. All of our silicone materials (with or without substrates) are easy to fabricate to your own complex geometric requirements.

Storage

We recommend that our products be stored in an air conditioned area at an ambient temperature of 23°C. We also recommend that materials be used as soon as possible in strict rotation order.

Shelf Life

For unvulcanised materials – 6 months at ambient temperature. For vulcanised materials – 10 years at ambient temperature in accordance with ISO 2230: 2002.
